Discovering Tohoku
The six prefectures at the northernmost parts of Japans biggest Honshu island are the least trampeled by tourists, and at the same tome offering the most to discover.
More than a thousand years ago, the northernmost part of Japan was essentially its own country, until the first shogun defeated the northern troops and unified the Japan for a short while. The six prefectures are still full of memories from this time, and from the Edo era, which ended with their unsuccessful opposition against the Imperial Army.
